The world of medicine has existed since prehistoric times. With milestones such as Marie Curie conducting pioneering research on radioactivity and the invention of dialysis, it is easy to forget some of the small medical milestones that we all rely on today.
 
We take equipment such as plasters, the stethoscope and sterile gloves for granted when we go to the doctors today but without these, where would we be?
Each of these things has a story behind them, which without research, you probably would never know about but it makes these humble pieces of equipment even more interesting.
The book brings in the lots of medical illustrations to bring it all together, and it is also stitched closed in order for the reader to cut it open to reveal its insides, just like a surgeon would do.
